From error message, the pbit file is created by the latest Power BI desktop version while you are running the older Power BI desktop. It seems that you are running the Power BI desktop installed from download site, if it is, you need to download latest Power BI desktop 2.64.5285.741 and install it manually.
If you would like to always run the new Power BI desktop, you can install Power BI desktop store version: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-get-the-desktop#install-as-an-app-from-the-microsoft-store
