Power BI Desktop data location

I am working with a client under an NDA and they are extremely cloud averse. If I am using Power BI Desktop on a network SQL instance does the data ever leave that environment and reside in the cloud...

    Correct - Power BI Desktop data is local just like an Excel file data is local to the author computer.

Desktop model will live on premise until you upload it to PowerBI.com
