This error is expected when the semantic model is configured to use Workspace Identity authentication, but the workspace or permissions are not fully set up.

Enabling Workspace Identity is part of the solution, but it think that is not enough on its own. You need to complete the following steps:

 

  • Workspace Identity enabled : Go to your Fabric workspace: : Settings → Workspace identity → Enable
  • Permissions granted on the Lakehouse / Warehouse (or source)
  • Correct ownership and access for the model
