Unable to save SQL query as VIEW

When creating a SQL query in the Data Warehouse and using the option "Save as View" it fails without a proper error description:

Error Details

The view could not be created because of the following error.

Hi  @erkuiper - Thanks for using Fabric Community,

We have an update from internal team -
"Apologies for the inconvenience that you are experiencing. This error is due to an issue that the team is working on and we don't allow users to write when schema is set to INFORMATION_SCHEMA."

While doing repro we were able to create/save the view when schema is dbo.
We tested this and it works fine without any error for me and my team.

In your case If you still facing the issue - "Unable to save the view when schema is dbo", I would recommend to raise a support ticket so that an engineer can take a closer look at it.

Hi @erkuiper

Thanks for using Fabric Community and reporting this .

I have reached the internal team for help on this. I will update you once I hear from them.

Appreciate your patience.

In mean while you can create your view by following below steps -

While creating View please ensure you select dbo.
view_2.png

View will be created successfully.
view_3.png

Please do a refresh View, inorder to list our your newly created view.

Hope this is helpful. Please feel free incase of any queries.

Thank you for your reply.

I can confirm that saving the view to dbo does give me the same error.

Moreover, it doesn't matter what schema I select, it just won't save the query as view.

When creating the same view in a SQL Query using T-SQL, it does work.
