fabric-cicd library validates cross-workspace references before applying parameterization

I'm trying to deploy my data pipelines through Azure Devops with fabric-cicd, but i'm getting some errors

The fabric-cicd library is failing to deploy Data Pipelines with cross-workspace references when using parameterization. The library validates external references before applying parameter replacement, causing 404 errors when the referenced items don't exist in the target environment. (Or does not have access to it)

Expected Behavior

  1. fabric-cicd should apply parameterization from parameter.yml first
  2. Then validate cross-workspace references using the replaced values
  3. Deploy the Data Pipeline successfully

Actual Behavior

  1. fabric-cicd reads the original JSON file with DEV workspace/semantic model IDs
  2. Attempts to validate that these references exist (before parameterization)
  3. Fails with 404 error because DEV semantic models don't exist in UAT environment
  4. Never reaches the parameterization step

Anyone any idea how to fix this.

My workaround for the moment, is to give the SPN for the UAT environment, access to the DEV environment as well. This is a temperory fix, which I don't wan't to use in production.

  • I found the error, it is a bug in fabric-cicd version 0.1.23 and wil be fixed in version 0.1.24
