We cannot assign you a free Microsoft Fabric trial capacity due to an error

Hello everyone,

I'm feeling a bit frustrated and upset as I've come across several posts regarding the issue: "We cannot assign you a free Microsoft Fabric trial capacity due to an error."

Does anyone know exactly how to fix this? I followed the suggestion from one of the posts and created a onmicrosoft dot com account, but I'm still facing the same issue—nothing seems to be working.

Additionally, since this is a onmicrosoft dot com account, why am I unable see the tenanct setting full option? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

@suparnababu8 ,

Thank you for your quick response. Apologies for not providing the full context earlier.

I'm using this account on my personal laptop, not my company laptop, to learn and gain experience with Fabric quickly. However, I’m encountering this issue while trying to install it. I was trying to follow this steps from this youtube video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHV7jZqc_tEeo, seems I'm missing something or is there a workaround. or do I need to purchase Microsoft Fabric trial capacity to access this? Thanks

Hello @LearnFabric

  • It seem that, your Fabric admin not enabled the Fabric Trail in Admin portal. May be your organization might restrict the use of free trials.
  • why it is not showing me the Tenant setting option and other Data Activator options ? - You are not admin of your tenent. have a look on below snapshot. If you are an admin it will show like this.
  • suparnababu8_1-1740794020721.png

  • Make sure that your AADaccount has the necessary permissions to access Microsoft Fabric features.
  • Go to your Microsoft 365 admin center and check if the Microsoft Fabric trial license is visible and assigned to your account as shown below
  • suparnababu8_0-1740793924273.png

  • If your tenent created newly you have to wait 60days to activate your fabric trail. This restrictions imposed by Microsoft.
  • Finally, I would recommend Check with your Fabric Admin / O365 Admin to activate your Fabric Trail.

If you need more info Pls check below accpeted solutions ot might helps you.
