I'm trying to create a free trial account for Microsoft Fabric to practice and learn the new features.
I've created a new user account in my personal Azure subscription (pay as you go) and assigned the Fabric Administrator role. I've also changed the password for this new user on first login to Azure portal.
In the Fabric portal, as soon as I enter my email in the first page (Enter your email, we'll check if you need to create a new account), I get an error page that says - "Sorry, that didn't work.
You can try refreshing the page to solve the problem. You can also wait a few minutes and try again. Correlation ID: dd578d3e-6f7d-430b-b81a-a4bceb8d7503"

Hi @rekha_bi ,
We’re kindly following up on your query. If you’ve raised a support ticket with Microsoft, could you please confirm whether the issue was resolved through their assistance?
If it has been resolved, we would appreciate it if you could share the resolution or any key insights here, as it could help others in the community facing similar issues.
Additionally, just a quick note:
Microsoft has discontinued Fabric trial support for newly created Entra ID and Microsoft 365 tenants that are less than 90 days old.
This change was made due to unsustainable usage patterns from rapidly created tenants for testing and learning purposes. As a result, Fabric trials are no longer provisioned for such tenants, even if they are legitimate.
If possible, we recommend initiating the Fabric trial on an established tenant, ideally one linked to a work or school organization with active usage across Microsoft 365 services.
Alternatively, you may consider purchasing an F2 capacity (or higher), which offers more flexibility. F2 is priced at approximately $0.35/hour and is a suitable option for testing and development without relying on trial availability.
We hope this information is helpful. If you need further assistance, feel free to start a new thread in the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum, we’ll be happy to support you.
We may consider closing this thread for now.
Thank you for your understanding and participation.

I successfully created Fabric Account. I have clicked on Start Trial Button as well. It is showing me 59 days left. I have created workspace also. Untill this point everything is perfect but when I try to create lakehouse I am getting an below error.
And when I click on See details.
Also I have already started trial then why still I am seeing this option as Start Fabric Trial. And when I click on Start Fabric Trial, I get below error message.
Hi @rekha_bi ,
Thanks for reaching out in Microsoft Fabric Community,
Also, thanks @nilendraFabric and @suparnababu8 for your valuable suggestions and shared links.
Microsoft has recently stopped offering Fabric trial capacities for newly created Entra ID (Azure AD) and Microsoft 365 tenants. This change was made due to frequent tenant creation solely for trial access, leading to usage patterns that Microsoft can no longer support. As a result, if your tenant is new, you won't be able to activate a Fabric trial. However, trials are still available for established tenants that actively use multiple Microsoft services.
If you're looking to explore Fabric, you have a couple of options.
->First, if your company already uses Microsoft Fabric, you can try enabling a trial within your work or school tenant.
->If that’s not an option, you can purchase an F2 capacity, which costs around $0.35 per hour and can be paused when not in use to manage costs.
Hope this helps.

I don't have an option to try out the Fabric or free trial at work or using the work email, which is why I'm to use my Azure personal Subscription.
Regarding your 2nd option, assuming I am willing to purchase an F2 capacity, would I be able to buy it through my existing Azure (personal) subscrition billing without needing a new work email? Could you please provide the steps or a link for this?
Hi @rekha_bi ,
Thanks for getting back.
Yes, you can purchase an F2 capacity using your existing Azure personal (Pay-As-You-Go) subscription without needing a work email. This allows you to explore Microsoft Fabric without relying on a trial.
To purchase an F2 capacity, follow these steps:

As soon as click on the Create button to setup the new Fabric, I get this error message.
Unsupported account
You cannot create a Microsoft capacity using a personal account. Use your organizational account instead.
Hi @rekha_bi ,
Thank you for getting back, and apologies for the delayed response.
Based on the image you shared, it appears that you are using an onmicrosoft.com domain but are unable to create a Fabric capacity.
If the problem persists, I recommend raising a support ticket through the following link: Microsoft Fabric Support and Status | Microsoft Fabric. The Microsoft Support Team will be able to investigate and assist you further.
Hope this gets resolved soon! Also, if you find any response helpful, please consider marking it as Accepted Solution to help others in the community.

My Azure account is around 1 year old. So I'm hoping this shouldn't be blocked on the basis of new account.
Regarding the Fabric Trial Settings, since my user Id is generated from an Azure personal account, do you think this setting is applicable to me? If so, how can I change this setting? - “Users can create Fabric items” setting is disabled in your tenant’s admin settings.
On the other hand, I'm opening the Fabric portal separately using the incognito mode in the Chrome. I've just created another user with both Fabric Admin and Global Admin roles. Also registered the Microsoft.Fabric resource provider for my Azure subcription based on some online help.
But I keep getting the same error with the new user as well -
Hello @rekha_bi
I think The “Users can create Fabric items” setting in the tenant’s admin portal must be enabled for users to access Microsoft Fabric features even if you are using a personal Azure account.
Navigate to the Admin Portal in Power BI, go to Tenant Settings, locate the “Users can create Fabric items” option, and ensure it is enabled.

Hello @rekha_bi
Newly Created Azure Tenant:
• Microsoft has implemented restrictions on newly created tenants. Free trials for Microsoft Fabric are often blocked for accounts or tenants that are less than 90 days old. This policy aims to prevent misuse of trial capacities.
• Solution: If your tenant is new, you may need to wait until it meets the age requirement or use an existing tenant that is older than 90 days.
Fabric Trial Settings in Admin Portal:
• The trial may not work if the “Users can create Fabric items” setting is disabled in your tenant’s admin settings.
• Solution: Go to the Admin Portal > Tenant Settings and enable “Users can try Microsoft paid features” for the entire organization.
Technical Errors During Activation:
• Errors like “Sorry, that didn’t work” could indicate temporary service outages or misconfigurations.
• Solution:
• Clear your browser cache and use incognito mode when accessing the Fabric portal.
• Ensure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is set up correctly for the user account.
• Retry after some time, as the issue might resolve itself if it’s related to service delays.
See if this is helpful.
please accept this solution if this helps.
