Hi,

Thanks again for raising this — and thanks to @burakkarakoc and @VA-atheeqeque for the helpful guidance already shared.

To consolidate and expand on the steps:

Key Requirements to Start a Microsoft Fabric Free Trial

  1. Account Type:

    • You must use a work or school Microsoft account (e.g., yourname@yourcompany.onmicrosoft.com).
    • Personal accounts (like @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or @Gmail.com) are not eligible for Fabric trials.
  2. License Prerequisite:

    • A Power BI Pro license is required to access Fabric features.
    • This license is included in Microsoft 365 E5 or Office 365 E5 subscriptions.
    • If you don’t have one, you can start a Power BI Pro trial first, then proceed to Fabric.
  3. Trial Activation Path:

    • Go to https://app.fabric.microsoft.com and sign in with your eligible work/school account.
    • If prompted, activate the Power BI Pro trial first.
    • Then, navigate to the Admin Portal > Trials section to enable the Microsoft Fabric trial.
  4. Common Pitfalls:

    • Ensure your tenant is in a supported region for Fabric trials.
    • If you created a new tenant, make sure it’s fully provisioned (this can take a few minutes to hours).
    • Try using an InPrivate/Incognito browser window to avoid cached login issues.
  5. Alternative Path:

    • If you don’t have a work/school account, consider creating a free Azure trial tenant, then assign yourself a Power BI Pro trial within that tenant.

Hi @NiravPatel-6945 ,

The user is trying to start a Microsoft Fabric free trial for the DP-700 lab but cannot sign in, despite having created an onmicrosoft.com email address. This issue likely relates to account setup or permissions. The user should:

  1. Ensure the onmicrosoft.com account is fully provisioned and verified.
  2. Try signing in via https://app.fabric.microsoft.com.
  3. Clear browser cache or try a different browser.
  4. Check if the trial is available in their region or tenant type.
  5. Contact Microsoft support if the issue persists.

Hi @NiravPatel-6945 ,
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Fabric Community.
Also thank you @burakkaragoz  for your inputs.

  • To access Microsoft Fabric, you must use a work or school-related Microsoft account, as personal emails like @outlook or @gmail are not eligible for trial sign-ups.
  • A Power BI Pro license is necessary, which comes included with Office 365 E5 or Microsoft 365 E5 subscriptions. If you have one of these subscriptions linked to your work or school account, you can begin a free trial of Microsoft Fabric.
  • If you don’t have a work or school account, you can consider creating a trial Azure account. This will provide an onmicrosoft.com email address, which can be used to access Microsoft Fabric.
