Comparing if we create 1 Lakehouse and if we create 3 Lakehouses, are there more cost incurred in the later? Assuming that the compute and storage are identical in both cases.

Not a stupid question at all. It's actually something many folks wonder about when designing their architecture.

If compute and storage usage are exactly the same, then having 1 or 3 Lakehouses won’t change the cost. Fabric charges are based on capacity usage and storage, not the number of Lakehouse objects.

That said, managing multiple Lakehouses might bring a bit of operational overhead like more pipelines or workspace complexity, but that usually doesn’t affect cost unless you're doing heavy refreshes or automation.

So yeah, from a cost perspective, 1 vs 3 Lakehouses with same usage = same bill.
