Some questions regarding the pricing of Fabric in enterprise usage scenarios

  • Regarding the pricing plans for Fabric, is the resource configuration for each SKU fixed? Can customized requirements be accommodated, such as needing more memory?
  • Does Fabric support the mainland China region?
  • In the SKU, what is the definition of "maximum memory per query"? Does it refer specifically to SQL queries, or does it include running Python programs, training models, and executing Spark jobs?
  • Does it support GPU resources?
  • Could you explain the differences between Fabric and the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform? What are the advantages of Fabric?

Hi @wuzhangliang ,

  1.  The resource allocation for each SKU in the fabric is not fixed. You can customize the environment to meet specific requirements, such as adjusting memory and CPU allocations.

You can refer to this document for more information:

  1. Fabric does not currently support the Mainland China region. However, you can use Fabric by creating Fabric capacity in a region where Fabric is available and then using Fabric's multi-geography feature.

For more information, see the official documentation below:

Fabric region availability - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

Multi-Geo support for Fabric - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

  1. “Maximum memory per query” refers to the maximum amount of memory allocated to a single query. This includes SQL queries, running Python programs, training models, and executing Spark jobs.

  1. Fabric does not support GPU resources.

Fabric has the following advantages:

  • High level of integration
  • Low code/no code functionality for users with no programming background
  • Automated Data Governance
  • Fabric seamlessly integrates with Microsoft products

Whether you choose to use Fabric or Databricks depends on your needs. If you need a highly integrated, easy-to-use platform, Fabric is the better choice. If you need large-scale data processing and cross-cloud support, Databricks is a better fit.
