Outlook Activity Connection
Hello,
I am using the Outlook activity in a Microsoft Fabric pipeline.
Is it possible to create the connection using a service account? The service account already has an Outlook mailbox.
If this is not supported, are there alternative ways to send emails from Fabric without using a personal account?
The emails are sent automatically to different audiences, and I would like them to be sent from a technical/automatic account rather than a personal user.
Thank you.
Hi lisaott,
Unfortunately no. While you can select a different interactive account like NandanHegde suggested, that needs to be a licensed user account, not a service principal/app registration.
Once the connection is created, you also cannot share it with anyone, so if anyone else touches the pipeline they will need to rebind it to a new connection, defeating the purpose.
When creating Office 365 mail connections, there is an option for using a service principal, however I have never been able to get it to work, and I've seen posts here from the CST team that it is not supported yet.
I hope that one day this is supported.

Yes, you can create the Outlook connection via a Service account
It gives up an optin to sign in and you can select any acount whiel logging in.
If it is auto logging in, then clear all cache or opne in another browser- lisaottFrequent Visitor
Hello,
thank you very much for your helpful answers.
I tried setting up the Outlook connection using the Service Principal, but unfortunately that did not work either. I then switched to sending emails via the Microsoft Graph API in a Notebook, which works very well.
