    Hi Anonymous ,

If the shortcut is pointing to a Fabric Warehouse table, then you cannot perform a DML operation on the table using SPARK, the allowed operations is Read operation. If you want to perform an update/DML operation either use TSQL or use CTAS to save the resultset/table in the Lakehouse. Please refer to the below link for more detail on the allowed operations.

Hi Anonymous @I'm just trying to work through your actions. Can you confirm if you are creating a shortcut in a lakehouse to another lakehouse table, or are you creating a shortcut in a lakehouse to a warehouse table?

Anonymous AFAIK Shortcuts are for reading data, you won't be able to modify data via a shortcut.
