MDM implementation

Could you confirm whether the roadmap includes MDM implementation in Fabric or Purview? I would appreciate any insights on the planned approach.

Hello @Eashwari

As per latest information, Microsoft Fabric itself does not have native MDM capabilities, the roadmap does include integration with third-party Master Data Management (MDM) solutions like Profisee. Which is allowing users to leverage MDM functionalities within the Fabric environment by connecting to these external tools. Essentially, data governance and MDM features are primarily managed through Microsoft Purview which is deeply integrated with Fabric.

Thanks!

Hello @Eashwari

Profisee has introduced the first native MDM workload integrated directly into Microsoft Fabric. This feature, available in public preview as of February 2025, allows organizations to seamlessly manage master data within the Fabric interface.

Enhancements in Purview include improved metadata management, data quality assessments, and governance capabilities tailored for Fabric users. MDM is still not supported .

Thanks

Hi @Eashwari

It depends on the client/organisations need. My take is, I will go with Microsoft Purview which is deeply integrated with Fabric. Becuase, Microsoft Fabric leverages Microsoft Purview for data governance, including master data management capabilities by integrating with external MDM solutions.

However, please check with clients/DG team before taking a decission.

Thank you!

Thank you for the reply.

Among the four provided solutions, can you suggest the best one to be adopted for an organisation which just started using fabric and purview for their data needs.
