Issue with start devGateway ( info: DevGateway stopped. Stopping application)

Hello Team,

We are currently working on the Microsoft Fabric workload development sample with our organization’s Fabric tenant.

Previously, we raised an issue where DevGateway was failing to start with the following error:
Dev instance registration call was not successful
[30/07 09:04:27.990] info: Starting DevGateway...
[30/07 09:04:28.084] info: Starting DevGateway...
[30/07 09:05:46.200] info: Interactive user AAD token received
[30/07 09:05:46.264] info: Registering dev instance...
[30/07 09:05:46.973] fail: Dev instance registration call was not successful, HTTP status code: Forbidden, reason: Forbidden, response: {"requestId":"ecc6ea0e-0efd-49b1-98ff-06b438c09d1e","errorCode":"FeatureNotAvailable","message":"The feature is not available"}
[30/07 09:05:46.986] info: DevGateway stopped. Stopping application...

The community had kindly suggested enabling the required settings:

Go to Admin portal > Tenant settings > Additional workloads
Turn on "Workspace admins can develop partner workloads"
Then hit Settings > Developer settings and enable "Fabric Developer Mode"

We confirmed that these settings are now enabled by our organization.

However, we are still receiving the same error when running DevGateway.

Could you please help confirm:

Whether any other tenant-level settings or permissions might be required?

If there are any known propagation delays or backend checks that might cause this to continue temporarily?

Any guidance or confirmation would really help us.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Best Regards

@kanagarajs

Any chance you are not working from the "main" branch? There are several preview features in upcoming preview branches that aren't available for everyone.

Hi @kanagarajs,

Thank you for reaching out and providing detailed information regarding the issue you are facing with DevGateway in Microsoft Fabric.

Based on the error message you're encountering: "errorCode":"FeatureNotAvailable","message":"The feature is not available"

It appears that, although the required tenant settings (such as “Workspace admins can develop partner workloads” and “Fabric Developer Mode”) are enabled, your tenant might not yet be fully enrolled in the Microsoft Fabric Developer Mode preview program. Go through the below links for better information:

The error you are seeing, "FeatureNotAvailable", means your tenant is not fully enabled for Microsoft Fabric Developer Preview, despite having the correct tenant settings enabled. You need to ensure your organization has opted into the preview via https://aka.ms/FabricDeveloperMode, and if you have already done this, please contact Microsoft support to verify your tenant has the correct backend flags enabled.

If your tenant has already been registered and you are still receiving the same error after 24 hours, we recommend contacting Microsoft Support to:

  • Confirm that the tenant is correctly flagged for Developer Mode backend access.
  • Check if there are any internal policy or licensing constraints.

Hi @kanagarajs,

Have you submitted a support ticket, and are there any updates from Microsoft? Please let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
