Issue with adding new tables in Semantic Model

When I add any new table to my semantic model. My report crashes. Even relationship was not created within the tables. This never happened before. Does anyone know the reason and what to do?

I have Mixed storage mode. Data is saved in Warehouse

  • Thanks suparnababu8   maruthisp , I figured it out. I checked a Preview feature few days ago, ' Live edit of Power BI Semantic Model in Direct Lake mode'. I unchecked it and refreshed my semantic model and it looks working now.

  • Hi Sreejisha

I replicated your scenario, it's working for me. Initially I created a sematic model with three tables and later I added one table it's working fine.

Similar kind of issues already reported in community by otherusers earlier. reason behind this issue is as follows.

    • If you are using new table addition with direct lakemode, sometimes, Direct lake mode connection refresh  failed due to another table causing the issue. So, try to refresh the sematic model until refresh succeded.
    • There is sync issue also cause for this error, as reported by you your tables are stored in warehouse, so, make sure that default model sync is turned on . Read more here Solved: Re: Lakehouse and semantic model issues - Microsoft Fabric Community

    • If it is creashing your report, you can use previous version for your sematicmodel up to date.

If you want know about sematicmodel pls read this Default Power BI Semantic Models - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

Still if your are facing the issue, I recommedn you raise support ticket.

  • Hi Sreejisha,

Could you please do the following bebug steps to find the actual poblem:
    1. Check if it a known issues in Fabric support page - Problèmes connus avec Microsoft Fabric
    2. Validate table schema - no circular dependencies or invalid ata types, any calcualted columns or measures

3.Create a new sematic model and try to add the same table.

4.Check storage mode - mixed mode can cause incompatability - tables are not partitioned properly

    5. If you are using Power BI desktop by connecting semantic model - check carsh logs

If the issue still appears, then raise a ticket. - How to create a Fabric and Power BI Support ticket - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
