Fabric Trial blocked on school account – any workaround?

Hi! Can anyone help, please?

I completed the AI Skills Challenge and got a free certification exam voucher. I’d like to practice in Microsoft Fabric before the exam. I tried signing up with my school email (CUNY) which has an Azure for Students subscription, but my school confirmed that Fabric is disabled for student accounts. I keep getting stuck on the loading screen.

I don’t have a work email — is there any way to sign up for Fabric using my personal email, or is there another solution? @Communit Support

What I did more than a year ago was I created my own domain and Azure subscription.

However, as of early 2025, Microsoft no longer offers Fabric trial capacities for newly created Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and Microsoft 365 tenants. This decision was made due to the frequent creation of tenants solely for trial access, leading to usage patterns that Microsoft could not support. Consequently, if your tenant is new, you won't be able to activate a Fabric trial. However, trials remain available for established tenants that actively use multiple Microsoft services.

Yeah, the school accounts can be tricky since many institutions block Fabric access by default. But good news,you can totally spin up a Fabric Trial using your personal email. Just make sure you're not logged into any school or org accounts when you start the process.

Quick tip: open an incognito/private browser window, go to the Fabric trial signup page, and use your personal Microsoft account (like Outlook, Hotmail, etc.). That usually works without issues.
