While trying to add Data Sources in the Fabric Data Agent I could see the following types visible in OneLake:
1. Warehouse (Lakehouse)
2. Semantic Model
3. Mirrored Database
4. Lakehouse
Don't we have Fabric SQL Database available as a Source yet?

Hi @AyusmanBasu0604,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.
Thank you for raising this. Currently the Fabric Data Agent supports Lakehouse, Warehouse, Semantic Model and Mirrored Databases as data sources. Fabric SQL Database is not yet available as a native source in the Data Agent UI. This is a known limitation and is planned to be addressed in future updates.
As of now you can work around this by mirroring your sql data into Fabric or staging the data into a Lakehouse and using that as your source. Support for Fabric SQL Database as a native source is already on the product roadmap and is expected to roll out later this year.
Thanks and regards,
Anjan Kumar Chippa
is there any specific time period like quarter or month? Could we expect the SQL DB source in the last quarter of 2025? @v-achippa
Hi @AyusmanBasu0604,
We don’t have a confirmed Microsoft published quarter or month for when Fabric SQL Database will become a native Data Agent source. While it is on the roadmap, the public documentation and roadmap site do not yet provide a specific launch window.
I recommend keeping an eye on the official Microsoft Fabric Roadmap portal and the Fabric product documentation, as any new timeline announcements would be made through these channels.
