Fabric Capacity for Deployment Pipeline

Hello Everyone,

Will there be any capacity consumption for deployment pipelines?

For ex., Im having a deployment pipeline which will deploy from QA(attached to QA capacity) to Prod(attached to Prod capacity), in this case our deployment pipeline will be executed from QA capacity or Prod capacity.?

Where will my Deployment pipeline resides?

Regards,

Srisakthi

  • Hello Srisakthi

Deployment pipelines in Microsoft Fabric do not “reside” on a specific capacity or workspace. They are a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) orchestration layer managed by Microsoft Fabric itself, operating independently of the capacities assigned to your workspaces

    Execution Context:
    • When a pipeline runs, orchestration activities (e.g., triggering deployments) are billed to the source workspace’s capacity (e.g., QA).
    • Example: Deploying from QA to Prod consumes minimal CU from the QA capacity.
    3. Post-Deployment:
    • After deployment, activities in the target workspace (e.g., Prod) use the target workspace’s capacity. The pipeline itself does not consume resources at this stage.
