DimensionAttribute table of D365 Finance and operations is not getting refreshed to fabric

Hello all,

I'm trying to sync DimensionAttribute table in to the fabric . But the fabric status is getting failed even after multiple attempts to refresh . I have no clue why the status is getting failed. Here is the screenshot of the status.

Hi Ramkishor,

Thank you for the update.

As per my understanding, the error generally arises because the Microsoft Fabric service has not yet been granted access to the linked Azure Storage Account. This situation may occur due to the delay in the propagation of RBAC permissions, which can take up to 15 minutes, or due to network restrictions on the Storage Account, such as firewall or VNet rules blocking access.

Kindly follow the steps mentioned below to help resolve the issue:

  1. If roles were recently assigned, please wait for 10 to 15 minutes as propagation delay is common.
  2. Ensure that the Microsoft Fabric managed identity or the respective user/service principal has been assigned the Storage Blob Data Contributor role on the target Storage Account.
  3. Verify that the Storage Account is accessible from all networks, or that Fabric services are explicitly allowed if using firewall or VNet restrictions.
  4. After confirming the above points, kindly retry linking from Microsoft Fabric and verify if the issue is resolved.

We hope the information provided will assist in resolving the issue. Should you have any further queries, please feel free to reach out to the Microsoft Fabric community.

Thank you.

Thankyou, @suparnababu8, for your response.

Hi Ramkishor,

We thank you for your question in the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

From what I understand, the main problem usually happens because change tracking is missing or not set up correctly in the DimensionAttribute table, or there are issues with the sync between Fabric and Dataverse. Even if the sync looks active, the Fabric status can fail if change tracking is not turned on for the F&O table, if the table metadata is damaged or not updated properly, or if the user connecting does not have the right permission to read changes or metadata.

Before you try to unlink or relink, please follow these steps to avoid losing data and to help fix the problem:

  1. Check that Change Tracking is turned on for DimensionAttribute in Dataverse.
  2. Ensure the user linking the tables has System Administrator or a similar role with permission to access table changes.
  3. If change tracking and permissions are correct but the problem stays, then you can unlink and relink. This will remove all linked tables or entities, so you will need to add the tables again manually.

Also, please see these links for more information:

We hope this helps you solve the issue. If you have more questions, please feel free to ask the Microsoft Fabric community.

Thank you.

Hello @suparnababu8 ,

Thank you for looking into my issue. The solution you provided is saying that unlink the fabric and link again. My concern is if we unlink the fabric will the previously added tables and entities also gets removed or those tables and entities will come as ease if we link again .

Waiting for your resopnse !

Kishor

Hi @Ramkishor

yes, If you unlink the Fabric, your  previously added tables and entities get removed from fabric. Then if you want to create a link again, you need to add it manually. However, I know you refreshed several times. at last give a try to refresh and if it's not resolved your problem. you need follow unlink and re-link concpet.

Please let me know if it works.

Thank you!

Hello @suparnababu8 ,

I unlinked fabric and trying to link again. Here is the error that is popping up.

"Unable to access storage account. This may be transient as permissions for the application may need time to propagate. Please wait for some time and try again later. If the issue persists, please ensure the storage account is on a network accessible by our service and you have the correct role access as described in our documentation."

Waiting for you response !!

Regards,

Kishor
