Data from Dataverse + user input fields

Hi all,

New to Fabric and looking for some ideas. I want to have a live connection of data from a Dataverse/Power BI into a tool that can also handle manual data input from users. For example 5 edited columns from dataverse and 3 created columns in a list or online excel file that can be manually updated and live. Is that possible?

Yes, what you're describing is possible in Fabric, but it requires combining a few components. Here's a suggested approach:

✅ Option 1: Power BI + Excel Online (OneDrive or SharePoint)

• Connect Power BI to Dataverse using DirectQuery or Import mode.
• Create a separate Excel file (hosted on OneDrive or SharePoint) where users can manually input or update the 3 additional columns.
• Use Power BI dataflows or Power Query to merge the Dataverse data with the Excel input.

⚠️ Note: This won’t be fully “live” unless you use scheduled refresh or Power Automate to trigger updates.

✅ Option 2: Power Apps + Dataverse

• Build a Power App that connects to Dataverse and includes editable fields for user input.
• Store the user input in a custom Dataverse table or a connected Excel/SharePoint list.
• Use Power BI to visualize the combined data.

✅ Option 3: Fabric Lakehouse + Dataflow Gen2

• Ingest Dataverse data into a Lakehouse.
• Allow users to update a linked Excel file (stored in OneLake or SharePoint).
• Use Dataflow Gen2 to merge both sources and publish to a semantic model.

Note that any lookup columns you have will be broken out into multiple columns implicitly.
