Hello everyone,
I have a quick question that's not easy to answer.
Can custom connectors be used in Fabric with the following items?
- DataFlow Gen2 ? (I'd say yes, but I'm not sure) -> If not, is this planned in the roadmap?
- Data Pipeline (I can't find any info, so I'll say no) -> If not, is this planned in the roadmap?
- Copy Job (I don't know) -> If not, is this planned in the roadmap?
Thank you in advance for your help,
Have a nice day,
Vivien

Hi @vivien57 ,
Great question — this is one of those areas where Fabric is still evolving, so here's what I know so far:
Dataflow Gen2: Currently, custom connectors are not supported directly in Dataflow Gen2. There’s been some internal discussion around this, and it’s likely on the roadmap, but no official ETA yet.
Data Pipeline: Same story here — no native support for custom connectors at the moment. Pipelines rely on predefined connectors and linked services. I haven’t seen any public confirmation that custom connector support is coming soon, but it’s definitely a common ask.
Copy Activity (within Data Pipeline): As of now, it doesn’t support custom connectors either. It’s limited to the built-in sources and sinks listed in the Fabric documentation.
If you're trying to work around this, one option might be to stage your data externally (e.g. via Azure Function or Logic App using your custom connector) and then pull it into Fabric using supported connectors.
Hope this helps clarify things a bit.
