Creating a Dataset from a Lakehouse/SQL Endpoint
- 2 years ago
Personally, I have not used the Auto-Report. I tried it a couple of times, but I still prefer to build the report from scratch. Maybe this will change in the future, as I'm sure the technology will develop further. But for now, I am building my reports from scratch.
Sometimes I use a company template report as a starting point for the layout.
Either copy+paste visual elements from the template report into my new blank report.
Or make a file copy of the template report file, and connect it to the semantic model, and then continue developing the report.
For every lakehouse, there will be a auto-created semantic model. You can create report, by clicking on its settings and selecting auto-create report option.
For creating custom Semantic model, go to the lakehouse view, on the top there will be option to create new Semantic model. One of the major difference is you can edit the custom semantic model with XMLA endpoint.
Hi,
I have tried this method previously, but facing the issue of not able to select any particular tables.
On a short Note, My tables are from FnO to Dataverse to Fabric (as Shortcut Tables.)
Any assistance on this will be helpful, to create customer semantic model and creating a automated report.
Thanks in Advance

Are they in delta format? If not then they cannot be added to semantic model.

Hi,
The tables are present in Delta Format, but they are as shortcuts, as they are from other environment. Tables are present in this manner.
Is there any way to work on this to create a auto-created report using Semantic Model. If not, kindly let me know what can be the reason, since Fabric is a fresh perspective.
Thanks in Advance

Can you try using this refresh icon when you create semantic model? I think it should come after this.
