Creating Artifacts
frithjof_v folder is a good value addition to workspace.
On PC if you click on the context menu to create a file, it creates the file on the same folder that you are currently in; such as root>Documents>Fabric>DesiredFolder
The same thing does not happen when you try to create an artifact(e.g. notebook) by clicking on the Workspace Menu; It would create the notebook in Root and then you manually move it back to WSDesiredFolder UNLESS you make a copy of the similar existing artifact from the current WSfolder and SAVE AS, then it creates the copy of the artifact in the same WSfolder.
I will stick with this for now; small price to pay.
The reality is not same as this doc.
I did a test on my side.
I am able to create the items (artifacts) inside a folder (directory) if I do the following, and select one of the visible items here:
To change which items appear in the list, click on the button on the bottom left of the screen (in this case 'Power BI') and select another experience (e.g. 'Data Engineering').
Then, I get sent to another page ('Home'). I don't know why I just don't stay in the Workspace after changing the experience. I think this is unnecessary and feels annoying. However, then I need to click on my workspace ('Folders test') to get back into the workspace again.
Then I can select items from the list:
If I select f.ex. Lakehouse, then the lakehouse will be created directly in my current folder ('LevelThree').
I think this is what the documentation is referring to, and it seems to work.
However, I agree that it is too many steps involved, because you need to change experience in the bottom left corner - and then you get sent to another page ('Home' - why?) and you need to navigate back to your workspace again.
I think it should be possible to click the 'More options' alternative in the list, and then select from all possible items, and still be created inside the folder. But this is not possible at the moment because the 'More options' alternative sends you to the 'Create' hub.
