Create a linked server connection from on-prem SQL Server to Fabric SQL Endpoint

Hey all. I'm trying to create a linked server connection from on-prem SQL Server to Fabric SQL Endpoint.  I saw one other post here that was "inconclusive".  I can use SSMS to connect to the SQL Endpoint. And, also connect via another app using the Microsoft OLE DB Driver 19 for SQL Server.

 

There are no great examples on how to do this, and my simple attempt failed with a general error.  Followed general insturctions here, but there are no examples using the SQL Connection String from the Fabric SQL Endpoint. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/security/authentication-access/azure-ad-authentication-sql-server-linked-server?view=sql-server-ver16

 

Is this supported, or to-be supported?

    Apologies for the delay in the response.

     

    As I understand that you are trying to create a linked server connection from on-prem SQL Server to Fabric SQL Endpoint.

    The below procedure might help you to resolve your ask.

    In order to connect from on-prem SQL server to Fabric, you need to install an on-premises gateway. Please find the related documentation - Install and configure an on-premises data gateway 

     

    For server connection from on-prem SQL server to Microsoft Fabric.
