Connecting Azure Fabric to Azure Flexible Postgres using Service Principal
Hi everyone,
I have an Azure Fabric capacity set up in my subscription, and I need to connect it to one of our Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server instances in the dev environment.
- The PostgreSQL instance has firewall rules in place.
- I am using a Service Principal for authentication.
- I have successfully logged in locally using a token generated by the Service Principal.
- I have added the Service Principal as a Microsoft Entra Admin for the PostgreSQL instance.
- However, I am facing issues when trying to connect through Fabric.
I have attached a screenshot of the error message I am getting.
Could anyone advise on the best approach to authenticate and connect Fabric to Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server using a Service Principal?
Are there any additional configurations or permissions I need to set up on Fabric or PostgreSQL?

did you tried adding Fabric’s outbound IP ranges for your region to PostgreSQL’s firewall rules
and Deploy Fabric capacity in the same VNet as the PostgreSQL server
