Cloud data source setting is not allowed refresh through gateway

Is this a bug or limitation of Fabric? I am using a Lakehouse table and some on-premise tables. I have created a connection for the Lakehouse so i am not using SSO. The on-premise connections are via a Gateway. I think i have narrowed down that the error is being cause by merges between this data in POwer BI Desktop before publishing. Is it not possible to merge data from on premise and a lakehouse in Fabric?? Should this be causing this error? When i publish without the merges the refreshes work fine.

Hi @higgy7,

Try and check the settings for the on-premise gateway, does it allow Cloud Data Sources to use the gateway cluster? See here: Merge or append on-premises and cloud data sources - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Otherwise, check your connection setting as well, you may need to enable it on the Power BI Service.

Thank you very much! It was the tick box in my connection settings. I didn't know this was needed as i thought the data was imported into the service before the merge took place. Much appreciated!
