    Hi Anonymous;,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

The difficulty in refreshing or creating semantic models after setting up a Lakehouse is likely due to the limitations of your free trial account, which impacts the connection to your Power BI reports. Please follow these steps to resolve the issue:

    • Go to the semantic model (Lakehouse > SQL Analytics Endpoint > Default semantic model settings > turn on Sync the default model. The model will update when you add more rows of data to your tables.
    • Navigate to the SQL Analytics Endpoint associated with your Lakehouse. From there, check if you can manage the default semantic model, as you mention that you want to give connection from lake house to power bi initially, we need to sync it.

To synchronize the default semantic model, please refer to the link below:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-warehouse/semantic-models#understand-whats-in-the-default-power-bi-semantic-model

    • If creating a new semantic model is also greyed out, verify that your workspace is properly set up and that you are logged in with the correct credentials that match your Fabric account.
    • Ensure that you have sufficient permissions on both the Lakehouse and the associated workspace. As a trial user, your access might be limited. You may need at least a Contributor role to consume items or an Admin role for full access.
    • Also make sure that you have these roles, or else you should request access or an upgrade from an administrator.

I hope my suggestions give you good ideas, if you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out.
