Background Consumption Not Releasing and Keeps Increasing throughout the day

Good Day All

 

We recently went live with Fabric and we have been monitoring the environment using the Fabric Capacity Metrics Report/App.

We are noticing a strange trend where our BU usage continues to increase throughout the day and by the end of the day we have little capacity available for interactive queries.

 

When drilling into the Timepoint detail, we are seeing data set refreshes that finished in the morning still consuming capacity on the Background operations. This includes previous Notebooks that were run.

This includes previous Notebooks that were run. In the screenshot below, the Dataset refreshes are contributing to the overall usage but finished erarlier in the day. (Note that this was run at about 3:30pm.

I am hoping that there is something we are missing and we need to script in some release of capacity/switching off of pools in our notebooks and after dataset refreshes.

The best course of action is to open a support ticket and have our support team take a closer look at it.

 

Please reach out to our support team so they can do a more thorough investigation on why this it is happening: Link
