Hi,
In Microsoft Fabric I'm trying to create a connection to an Azure SQL Database using a service principal.
The creation fails every time with an error: "Unable to create connection for the following reason: It looks like the refresh token expired. Please go to this dataset's settings page, and reenter the credentials for the data source. ..."
I have tried both a Fabric workspace identity and another security principal. Both give the same result. Yesterday I could create a connection using a security principal, but not today. I can connect to the database using OAuth 2.0.
I even created a PBI Desktop report querying the database, published it and then tried to set credentials in Semantic model > Settings > Data source credentials. There I get the same error without "refrehs token expired".
My question is simple: where in Fabric UI can I re-enter the credentials for the data source? What should I do to get the refresh token refreshed, if that's the cause for this issue?

Hi @aki-siponen ,
Thanks for using Microsoft Fabric Community,
As @lbendlin mentioned, you can re-enter the data source credentials in the Semantic Model settings within the Fabric UI.
To do that,
1. Go to Semantic model settings-> Data source credentials.
2. Click on Edit Credentials.
3. Sign in with an account that has database access to regenerate the expired OAuth token.
This triggers a token refresh and resolves most "refresh token expired" errors.
Hope this helps! Please feel free to reach out for further assistance.

Thanks, I'll try that.

In the "Data source credentials" section of the settings page for the semantic model.
