Update on User Experience Feedback from the Reddit Thread (General Available)

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been actively reading through comments in the Reddit thread to gather UX feedback. Thank you all for taking the time to share your experiences — we appreciate your honesty and passion. Here’s a quick update on where things stand:

Item dropdown no longer goes off-screen

Several users noted that when opening an item drops down near the bottom of the screen in a workspace, the menu could extend beyond the visible area. This issue has now been fixed for most items, and we are actively working on fixing the same issue for semantic models.

Figure: Before the fix—item dropdown near the bottom of the workspace is cut off and extends beyond the visible screen.

Resolved keyboard shortcut issue

We also addressed the issue where pressing number keys could unintentionally switch tabs, even without using Alt/Control. Tab switching now only happens when the proper shortcuts are intentionally used, restoring predictable behavior.

We've received other requests, and many are already scheduled.

We want to reassure everyone that we’ve read all your suggestions. Many popular requests are already in the pipeline, including:
  • Planned
    • “Open in new tab” from Object Explorer,
    • Tab grouping
    • Close all workspaces except one
  • Coming soon to core developer surfaces in Private Preview
    • Dark mode
Thank you again for all the thoughtful feedback — it genuinely helps us prioritize and improve the experience. Please continue sending your feedback, and we’ll keep improving Fabric to better support how you work.
