OneLake is the unified data lake for Microsoft Fabric, storing data across Fabric workloads in a shared data foundation. This shared model means data can be spread across dozens or hundreds of items, with some data directly visible to users while other data is managed by the workloads. With all this data spread across many items, how can workspace admins quickly understand their data to make informed management decisions?

OneLake item-size reporting, now generally available, provides this visibility by generating a breakdown of storage size per item in a Fabric workspace in a single click, making it easier than ever to understand storage across your workspace directly from the Fabric portal.

What’s in the item-size report?

The OneLake storage report calculates the amount of data stored in each item in a workspace. From the report, admins can:

• Sort and search items, including by data size.
• Break down visible data, system data, and soft-deleted data.
• Understand the billing status of items.
• Refresh the report to calculate updated storage usage.

This gives admins a more complete view than manual inspection alone, all from the Fabric portal. Using the report, admins can identify problem items for a more thorough investigation or develop lifecycle management policies that specifically target items with the most data.

Get started

To generate your first OneLake storage report:

1. Open your workspace in the Fabric portal (you must be a workspace admin).
2. Go to Workspace settings > OneLake > Storage report.
3. Select "Refresh".
4. Once the report is refreshed, explore your new item-size report!
