How Fabric keeps you informed about different service issues

Fabric uses several message types to communicate service issues, depending on how an issue is detected and where the information is surfaced.

  • Service interruption an issue identified through monitoring systems or other detection methods.
Where you may see it: Supported surfaces such as in-product banners, Teams, email (when enabled), or the Service Health dashboard.
  • Service status message a high-level message about service degradation or outage affecting a specific scenario or region.
Where you may see it: Fabric Support page.
  • Service health message a message sent to customers impacted by a service degradation or outage.
Where you may see it: Service Health dashboard in the Fabric admin portal.

See it where you work

When a service issue affects your environment, a banner notification may appear on relevant Fabric pages. The banner provides available information about potential impact and status. As the situation evolves, updates may be reflected in the banner as new information becomes available. Users can dismiss the banner at any time; if additional updates are issued, the banner may reappear with the latest information. When multiple issues are active, the banner is designed to prioritize the most recent updates.

Get notified in Teams and email

You can also receive service interruption updates in Microsoft Teams and email. Both channels are designed to deliver similar updates to the in-product banner. These notifications are off by default. Your admin can enable them for your organization.

How to set it up

Fabric admins control notifications through two independent settings in the admin portal—In-product banners and Teams and email notifications. Configuration is limited to supported scenarios and settings.

Service Health dashboard in the admin portal

Fabric now includes a dedicated Service Health page in the admin portal. This is a centralized view of service health activity within the Fabric experience, including available information about active issues and recent incidents.

The dashboard is available at Admin Portal > Help + Support > Service Health. It complements the existing Microsoft 365 admin center health view, allowing you to use the view that best fits your workflow.

Only users who can create support cases to Microsoft customer support can view the Service Health messages for more details refer to Create support tickets from within Microsoft Fabric.

What's next

We are working to expand automated issue detection to additional Fabric workloads beyond Power BI.

The following resources provide additional information for supported scenarios:

Service issue visibility, notifications, and timing depend on supported scenarios, configuration, and available system data.
