The August 2026 release of the on-premises data gateway is version 3000.330. The new August 2026 release of the on-premises data gateway (version 3000.330) continues our commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and manageable connectivity between on-premises data sources and Microsoft Fabric services.

This release includes improvements focused on gateway manageability, operational visibility, enterprise governance, and platform reliability, helping organizations manage their gateway environments with greater confidence. It also brings compatibility updates for the August 2026 release of Power BI Desktop, ensuring consistent query execution and a seamless experience between Power BI Desktop and cloud-based refresh scenarios. Additionally, this release includes enhancements across security, authentication, diagnostics, and overall platform quality.

We have received a few questions from community members regarding CVEs identified in third-party components used by the on-premises data gateway. As part of our ongoing commitment to security and reliability, we continuously evaluate and update third-party dependencies. These updates are incorporated into gateway releases following comprehensive security reviews, compatibility validation, and product qualification testing to help ensure a secure, stable, and reliable experience for customers. Security and dependency updates are delivered through regular gateway releases.

We recommend keeping your gateway deployment up to date to benefit from the latest security enhancements, dependency updates, performance improvements, and platform reliability fixes.

Power BI Desktop compatibility

This update brings the on-premises data gateway up to date with the August 2026 release of Power BI Desktop.

Download on-premises data gateway (standard mode)

Download on-premises data gateway (personal mode)

This version of the gateway will ensure that the reports that you publish to the Power BI Service and refresh via the gateway will go through the same query execution logic/run-time as in the August version of Power BI Desktop.

Next steps

Upgrade to version 3000.330 to take advantage of the latest security, authentication, and diagnostics improvements. We encourage you to share feedback and feature requests through the Power BI Ideas forum to help shape future gateway investments.

  • This is too vague "enhancements across security, authentication, diagnostics, and overall platform quality". Please can we have specifics within release notes.

Thanks for the feedback. We generally try to call out significant customer-visible feature/enhancements separately, while grouping broader platform improvements into a summary statement. That said, we appreciate the feedback and will look for opportunities to provide more detail in future releases where it adds value and helps community better understand the impact of the changes.

The DisableSpooledSerializeContextIsolationFix parameter suggests that Microsoft modified the memory serialization process for handling data.

Appreciate the acknowledgement of the concern about security vulnerability and fully understand that the team needs a proper plan and test for the fixes. However, as an official product offered, Microsoft should publish a list of known vulnerability about Power BI Gateway and give a timeline to fix them. The list can be easily obtained from Microsoft defender.  I logged a support ticket about this to PBI and then was pushed to MS Security Center then pushed back to PBI support. In the end, what I got is a confirmed reply that there is no issue on our installation, but no one is really interested to look at the vulnerabilities reported.

Report against on-premises data gateway 3000.334.4: FabricIntegrationRuntime\5.0\Shared\FabricPipelineWorker.exe.config line 230-231 binds System.IO.Hashing to 9.0.0.10, but the shipped Shared\System.IO.Hashing.dll is 8.0.0.0 (FileVer 8.0.23.53103), breaking all Lakehouse Delta writes through Microsoft.DI.Delta

        Yeah we had to downgrade.

  • Some people on the July 2026 update thread were asking if the connectivity issues had been resolved with that update. I can't speak to that update's viability to resolve the issue, but we were having intermittent connectivity issues since installing the June 2026 update. This update appears to have resolved those intermittent connectivity issues. We are using on-prem SQL Server databases that we connect to through the gateway.

Very thankful to not have to perform multiple, manual updates on two specific Fabric semantic models that were effected by the June 2026 update. Would recommend updating if you are still on that version and on the fence.

BTW; Have you or anyone else been successful using the new "Update gateways from the UI" ? We have tried and with failure. Cannot find any useful logs to understand why.

I just upgraded 3 of our gateways using the UI without a problem. One gateway took a while to update, but I logged into the server it is on and could see the installer running.

  • The September 2026 install binary is out, release notes are not yet available.

  • No mention as to any differency if in GCC Tenant or Public Sector, right?

I'm also having this problem with on-premises data gateway 3000.334.4:

FabricIntegrationRuntime\5.0\Shared\FabricPipelineWorker.exe.config line 230-231 binds System.IO.Hashing to 9.0.0.10, but the shipped Shared\System.IO.Hashing.dll is 8.0.0.0 (FileVer 8.0.23.53103), breaking all Lakehouse Delta writes through Microsoft.DI.Delta

Any feedback on this? should revert back to august version as workarround?
