We have an saas based electronic billing application used by over 800 companies. We place report data files out on SFTP sites for each client. Is it possible to access data files on SFTP sites from Power BI?

Adding this connection is an acknowledgment that there are existing data-sharing workstreams that PBI needs to connect to. FTP has been a standard method of sharing data for quite some time and this should be a priority in Microsoft's roadmap!

From a security standpoint, SFTP is very desirable and uses an existing security model that is approved by our governmental organization.

Come on, please add this! This seems pretty basic and it would be very helpful for a number of use cases. Not having functionality like this is driving us away from longer-term use of this BI solution.

We really need a solution for this. Being able to connect to a sFTP-server to retrieve files should not be this difficult. I wonder if there is another reason for not implementing the feature..
