"Copy to workspace" functionality for Apps

Currently it seems that it's impossible for end-users to access the dataset in Power BI - only in Excel! That's kinda crazy - please enable similar "copy to workspace" functionality as content packs. In particular, it should be possible for users to copy a report from an App and customize it - we need this for several use cases.

Completely agree. After publishing an App, we would like to give our users ability to, in their own copy of a report, create new report pages with their preferred visuals and hierarchy drill paths, while respecting the row-level-security of the DataSet. This could be saved to their 'My Workspace'.

I agree that this needs to be a requirement before deprecating Content Packs. Without it the concept of "Self-Serve" reporting completely goes away unless you role out Desktop to every user or create a security maintenance nightmare with App workspaces.

We were also affected by the removal of this feature and would love to see it brought back.

We wanted to encourage our employees to become more fluent in designing reports using Power BI Service, and this offered them a way to create a personal copy of reports that were created by other team members who are more well versed in Power BI. By creating a copy, they could see how those reports/visuals were configured and learn + adapt those techniques for their own reports.

Content packs allow users to download and then Make a copy to their workspaces. This enables users to do all sorts of analysis out of the charts that came with the dashboard. However, this feature doesn't seem supported in Apps.

Vote on this idea if you if you want to be able to save copies of reports in "My workspace" within the apps to allow each app user to edit and customize their copy of the reports.

Recently updated the interface to create applications and with it this feature was removed. 

Previously when creating an application you could enable the option "make a copy of the reports in the applications", this allowed the users of the application to save copies of the reports to later edit and customize their copy of the report.
