lock a selection on a visual to use it like a filter

Currently on a report page when one selects something in a visual it filters all the other visual. This is cool. But the moment you click on a different visual to select something within that, it unselects what was selected in the first visual. I'd like it have a way to lock the select in a visual so even when clicking on another visual, the first selection stays allowing me to use it like a filter to drill down within a report. the only way I can make this work now is to add a filter next to every visual. Then if I want a selection to slick, I must find the equivalent value in the filter and check it. Not very intuitive.

There seem to be many flavors of this suggestion in the idea forum, would be nice to get them consolidated to improve the power. I am imagining a little "lock" icon in the upper right, kind of like the drill down, that just locks in that visual selection while you make other visual selections. It would stay until I click on "unlock it" icon. To me this would be not only very cool and convenient, but keep me from having to have so many slicers. Right now I basically have to duplicate every visual into a slicer to give the end user the flexibility if that is what they are trying to do.
