Microsoft Fabric currently provides lineage at the item level (datasets, lakehouses, notebooks, pipelines), but does not expose column-level lineage within Fabric itself. For teams building transformations using: Fabric Lakehouse (Delta tables) SQL Analytics Endpoints Dataflows Gen2 Pipelines / Notebooks there is no way to see how individual columns flow, transform, or propagate between sources and downstream tables/views inside Fabric. Ask: Provide a column-level lineage view directly in Microsoft Fabric, showing: Source column -> target column mappings Transformation paths across notebooks, pipelines, SQL, and dataflows Cross-artifact lineage (Lakehouse -> SQL Endpoint -> Dataset, etc.) Limits: Fabric lineage graph only shows artifact-level relationships No visibility into column-level dependencies Purview does not currently provide complete or end-to-end column-level lineage for Fabric workloads. ... Hi Folks,   The power of the data build tool (dbt) is the fact that files are part of the directed acyclic graph. This means you can run all, a sub-directory (schema), or file.   The issue I see with the first look at preview software is the fact that pre-built libraries are being include in the list of objects and objects are not grouped like they are in the project.   If there is a stage folder, there should be a stage group in the run interface. In Power BI Desktop >> Transformations, we have the ability to DISABLE options per query: "Enable Load" and "Include in report refresh". It would be great if Dataflow Gen2 had the same or similar option.    As it is now, it is ALL OR NOTHING in regards to VALIDATION. EVERY Query must pass validation before the Dataflow is considered validated.    If I could disable both validation and loading for a SINGLE query in a Dataflow, that would be AWESOME.    Maybe I have changes in some of the queries I want to make happen, but am still developing others. Currently, if my 'under development' query fails validation, then Fabric uses the LAST VALIDATED copy of the Dataflow.   Consider the developer experience for Fabric pipelines. You cannot even SAVE it until ALL tasks pass validation. And if it doesn't, you can DISABLE individual tasks to get beyond that and run it. ... View more

Soft deletion for OneLake files makes sure that deleted files are restorable for 7 days. However, customers also have to pay for the storage usage during that time. For the scenario, when writing short-lived (large) temporary files to OneLake, this feature might have significant billing cost (see model calculation below).   Scenarios, were deleting immediately would make sense: Executing Unittests and Performance tests, where the written data are only important temporarily When making use of Spark Checkpointing that will offload intermedite compute results to OneLake   Request: give customers more control over that feature and let them descide, what is the right retention period for them, as well as disabling the feature all together for a Workspace, Lakehouse (or idealy for specifc folders).   Cost comparison: Pricing page only states GB/month/GB-price (lets assume $0.023 for this model calculation). What happens when I do some performance testing (that takes 30 minutes) and write some large temporary files (50 TB total) to OneLake and delete it right after my tests? It would be super helpful to get a connection string in SSMS with the workspace name instead of the very cryptic string you get today : Imagine being able to see: server name : WorkspaceNameDev server name : WorkspaceNamePrd That would greatly improve this experience. There's currently no way to control the number of decimal places on the Distance to Goal of the Target Label in the KPI Card. While preparing for the DataViz World Championships, I spent a significant amount of time testing accessibility with NVDA. During this process, it became very clear how important tooltips are for understanding a report, especially when combined with a logical tab order for users with limited vision. Tooltip pages are extremely helpful and visually rich for sighted users. However, in my testing with NVDA, tooltip pages were not accessible at all, as they are interpreted as images and their content is not read by the screen reader. One possible improvement would be to add an alt text field at the page level specifically for pages defined as tooltip pages, with support for dynamic text.   This alt text could describe the tooltip’s purpose and content based on the current context or selection, making the information accessible to screen reader users while preserving the existing visual experience for others. Dear Microsoft Fabric Community,   I would like to request some improvements for Gantt Chart (version 3.0.12.0) for project/milestone reporting:   1) Add option to show up to 3 hierarchy levels of categories in Milestone reporting (ie ungrouped hierarchy levels). 2) Add ability to toggle on and off milestone lines for the Gant Chart (see screenshot below - each milestone has dashes which makes the visual congested) 3) Toggle on and off Milestone labels of Gannt Chart.  Potentially include auto formating to move labels and have a line from the milestone icon to the label. 4) Ability to format Milestones based on data input eg specific  colour for Completed, In-progress,  Yet to commence, delayed etc.   This would greatly improve Gantt chart functionality for Project management.     Thank you for the consideration for this request.   Best Regards, Mir ... Please add the ability to hide or control the visibility of sub–X‑axis labels when using hierarchical axes. Currently, Power BI forces the display of the lowest‑level category labels, which limits the design of clean visualizations. Can we have appropriate names for TMDL scripts? If I drag the Semantic model into TMDL view, I want the tab to be called Semantic Model by default, not Script1.  If I drag the top-level Tables into TMDL view, I want the tab to be called Tables, by default. Ditto for Measures. Anything lower in the tree than that should have its own name by default, i.e. the table or the measure name.
