We are experiencing lots of problems trying to refresh power Bi Datasets that query databases, either in Power Bi Desktop or using the On-premises data gateway. The problem is that after refreshing a table, the database connection doesn't close. Currently, we are full of open connection from Power BI in our databases. And in some of our databases we have a limit on the number of connections each user. As a result, reports fail to refresh. Is there any way to force the connections to close after the refresh? It would be awesome if there was an option for Power Query within Dataflows (in the Power BI Service) to 'View Native Query', just as is possible in Power BI Desktop (in the right-click context menu for Applied Steps - for those unaware, if 'View Native Query' is greyed out then Query Folding is no longer active at that step). This would be great to quickly determine whether Query Folding is still valid, rather than having to copy the M script back into Power BI Desktop to utilise this great little trick to test for Query Folding validity. ... As we migrate from content packs to apps, it would be nice to prevent users from downloading/getting content packs. Give us the option to remove content packs from the store without deleting the content pack. This will allow people to continue using reports from content packs but prevent additional downloads of the content packs. I have read quite a lot about licencing on Power BI but I am still not quite sure whether we can use the free version of Power BI Desktop with Report Server when it is licenced under the 'SQL Server Enterprise Edition with Software Assurance'. Can anyone confirm? What I want to do is create reports using Power BI Desktop, publish them to the Power BI Report server and have other people in my organisation view the data, without needing their own licence. I have a report where I keep several items pre selected on a slicer. I cannot use the report level filter because, for some reason, it arbitrarily selects a percentage of items to list. The problem isn't that a slicer must be used, I really don't mind the slicer. The problem is, when adding new selections it randomly clears a portion of those who were already selected. This is a list of our vendors (around 281 total) and we highlight about 25 - 30 to monitor. If I add five more, the slicer will go from having 30 selected to having about 22 selected plus the one I just clicked. There is no rhyme or reason and it is never the same ones dropped. It is very frustrating to have to go back through the entire list to find what was dropped and add new ones. Any suggestions? Can slicers please maintain all selections when adding new ones? ... I would like to login to PowerBI.com and it go directly to the reports section for whatever default workspace I define and skip the dashboard section. I realize this would not be beneficial to all, so I asking for a Preferences section where I can set this as my default (workspace as a default) as well as as we never use Dashboards, only Reports. The ability to publish only structure and not data would be really nice. today if I want to make a minor change (eg. correct a spelling error on a button) I Have 2 options : 1) Uploade the change without updating data and hope no one uses the report until next update so data is 4 days old for 2 hours. Currently, when a user selects the years of 1999-2014 from a slider and then wants to change the range to the years to 2015-2016 by adjusting the beginning year first, since 2015 is larger than the end of the original year spread (2014), it will not accept it and reverts to 1999.
