Feature request: OneLake shortcuts to support connections to ADLS Gen2 storage accounts using managed private endpoints   Currently OneLake shortcuts only support connections to storage accounts that are publicly accessible or accessible with storage networking rules in place. Shortcuts via Managed Private endpoints are not supported yet. Our organization requires all connections to go via Private Endpoints. Furthermore, networking rules are not possible in our situation, since our Fabric instance is deployed in a different Azure Tenant.   OneLake shortcuts are a great way to save compute, as we would be able to query directly on our Delta and Parquet tables in our Storage Accounts, instead of requiring compute to serve this data. The docs say:   "There's a semantic model-level setting to automatically update Direct Lake tables. It's enabled by default. It ensures that data changes in OneLake are automatically reflected in the Direct Lake semantic model. You should disable automatic updates when you want to control data changes by framing (...)"   https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/fundamentals/direct-lake-overview#automatic-updates   Currently, this disabling needs to be done manually on each semantic model in each workspace.   However, best practice is to not do manual adjustments in Test and Prod workspaces.   Please make it possible to control this behavior via Git instead. In the Power BI Matrix visual, when multiple fields are placed in the Columns well, the hierarchy order is fixed. The first field always becomes the outer grouping, and there is no way to swap or control who groups who. Although we all agree that Polars/Pandas/DuckDB is faster on single node, the Spark Engine has a strong, nearly bug free API that has many efficient implementations (e.g. one of the best Delta/Iceberg/Hudi Writers). It also offers Stream Processing across many matured data sources.   There's nearly 15 years worth of rich tutorials on Spark patterns. Copilot/AI is extremely proficient at producing high-quality Spark code. Data Engineers can be highly productive in Spark in a very short period of ramp up. It is also a great API to learn, since all hyperscalers offer a managed Spark runtime, so it's easy to find a Data Engineering role (job security etc.)   Spark Declarative Pipelines will also significantly reduce the barrier to entry to writing ETL code: Spark Declarative Pipelines Programming Guide - Spark 4.1.0-preview1 Documentation   But - due to the lack of a cheap/fast/single-node runtime, instead of taking advantage of these awesome API investments in Spark Engine, many Data Engineers who have smaller volume of data end up writing entire heterogenous API centric codebases, when they could just use the Spark API and it's innovations, so the code can scale out when the job needs to with simple config changes, or run in local mode when it doesn't need to.   Ideally, one day Fabric could offer a serverless Spark runtime, but until then, it might be fairly easy to tune up a single-node Spark runtime that is opinionated with spark configs that do not force shuffles. Perhaps NEE could back this runtime to reduce the memory footprint as well.   OSS Apache Spark can run pretty fast(er) on a single node if you tweak a few settings. The problem is, you need to be a Spark Expert to read these things and tweak it. Hi, for some Fabric scenarios it is necessary to get data from some on-premises SQL source data (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SAP, MySQL and so on), after some preliminary exploring, querying (in general, analyzing) operations on the related data, in order to detect the number of records, the primary keys, the data distribution for some fields, the table relationships and so on, without doing any ETLs, copies or mirrorings (in general, without any data movements). In this example, I'm using an Azure DevOps - Source Control connection configured with Service Principal authentication as shown on the image below      Using this connection, I'm invoking a interface Git - Connect - REST API (Core) | Microsoft Learn , following the example provided in Connect a workspace to Azure DevOps using configured connection example  and implemented using PowerShell script, in the image below you can see how the call is correct, but I'm getting an error "{"requestId":"xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxx","errorCode":"GitProviderResourceNotFound","message":"The requested operation can't be completed because the Git provider resource could not be found using the provided Git connection details."}"        After a LONG INVESTIGATION following what the error suggested the problem was (e.g. ID of the connection incorrect, lack of permissions, etc)  and ruling-out many alternatives, I concluded that it wasn't none of this but the issue was that, on the target branch reference in the example shown "workspace/ws_test-auto-deploy_dev" did not contain "directoryName": "/fabric"    This is why the return error message GitProviderResourceNotFound is very misleading and should be more granular, it would have same me a lot of time something different like "BranchMissingDirectory" instead.  ... Fabric’s SQL endpoint currently fails when the feature.v2Checkpoint flag is present in Delta log history. This flag is automatically set when tables are written with v2 checkpoints, which is the default when adopting Databricks‑recommended practices like liquid clustering. This creates a critical gap: Databricks promotes v2 checkpoints and liquid clustering as best practices, yet Fabric’s SQL endpoint does not support them.
