This week, when doing some research, I opened the Fabric Warehouse pane on the left to check out the available DMV's and DMF's. Currently, in Power BI’s Manage Relationships view, finding a specific column can be challenging, especially when dealing with large tables containing 80+ columns. Scrolling through the list to locate the desired column is time-consuming and inefficient. Hello, Would it be possible to add parameters to a pipeline run? Sometimes there are parameters such as 'do a full run' vs 'do an incremental run' that we may want to run in different schedules even. However, the current workaround is to wrap these parameterized pipelines in another pipeline and then schedule that one. I would like to be able to bring a visual (any visual) forward or send it backwards when a choice is made in a slicer. As an example, I have 2 commitment matrixes, one for all inspections and one for Environmental Justice Inspections that occupy the same space on the report page. The all inspections matrix is above the EJ inspections in terms of layers. To the right of this space, I have a matrix of YTD actual inspections. I also have a slicer for EJ, "Y" and "N". When I select EJ "Y" to filter the YTD actual inspections, I would like the all inspections commitment matrix to be sent backwards and the EJ commitment inspection matrix to be brough forward, essentially hiding the all inspections commitment matrix. When the slicer selection is removed or reset, the matrix layer order should revert to the original state with the all inspections matrix on top and in view. ... View more

I work for a school district and we use Tableau. It would be alot easier to recommend Power BI if it was not a new expense but rather an unused feature. This could also be useful to Microsoft as part of their investment strategy in students. Add an apply button for the DAX input field in Power BI Desktop, so that you can work in a DAX script and click outside the field or go to another view to check how the relationships was e.g., without actually applying the changes to the data model. When working on larger tables, sometimes you end up waiting for the data model to apply the "changes" that you know will fail anyway because you are not really finished with the script, and that can be very annoying. Maybe it would also make sense to add a way to see if there are un-applied changes to a table in the table-pane, by displaying those tables in cursive or add an asterix or something. ... View more

I propose the following ideas to improve the experience for U.S. Sovereign Cloud users. 1) A “Can I Use…” for Power BI and Fabric Services It can be arduous to determine if a feature is available in the Power BI service. While Microsoft provides some documentation, it often lacks the level of detail needed. When I was more involved in JavaScript development, it was challenging to know if certain features were supported across browsers like Internet Explorer or Firefox. The website caniuse.com was a time-saver in those cases. Imagine if a similar resource existed for searching feature availability across sovereign clouds.  This could help staff and contractors plan and implement solutions with an understanding of what is supported. Note: Since Fabric is unavailable in many U.S. Sovereign Clouds at the time of this writing, and with the rapid pace at which features for the platform are being deployed and advertised, it will be challenging to sift through the 'signal from the noise' and determine what works for a specific Sovereign Cloud. A CanIUse-like feature could be vital to adoption and customer satisfaction. 2) Applies To: for each feature In many organizations, a formal process reviews and approves software before installation on machines. This can result in the latest approved version of Power BI Desktop being several months old. Additionally, organizational rules often prohibit users from independently updating to the latest version of Power BI Desktop. Consequently, not all features found in search engine results are available, leading to frustration and wasted time trying to understand why a feature isn’t accessible. Imagine if this information were displayed like "Power BI Desktop (GA: October 2024)". You would quickly know if this feature applies to the version of Desktop you're permitted to use. Note: This feature would also benefit large commercial enterprises with similar software review requirements, which delay the version of Power BI Desktop in use. 3) A Power BI/Fabric Blog geared just for US Sovereign Clouds Where were you when Power BI Datasets were renamed to Power BI Semantic Models? If you were in GCC, it was months after the official announcement — and on a Thursday afternoon. The number of calls my colleagues and I received about 'What happened to my datasets?' was overwhelming and took time away from value-added work. This is just one of many similar experiences I’ve had over the years. It would be extremely helpful if the Power BI and Fabric blogs had a stronger focus on when updates are rolled out to sovereign clouds. While U.S. Sovereign-specific news does occasionally appear in the blogs, it’s inconsistent. Additionally, relying solely on notices sent to tenant administrators is insufficient, as timely sharing of this news with staff is often unreliable. For example, I recently discovered by chance that the Power Automate Visual was supported in GCC, and many administrators hadn’t seen a notice. Deployment Pipeline New UI Deployment and Filtering across folders In the new Deployment Pipeline, it is currently not supported to deploy multiple items across folders, nor does the filters apply across folders. This creates inconsistency with the filter and search experience in Workspaces. Additionally, being able to select items across folders for deployment is critical to avoid several, smaller deployments. Until this is supported, most of our deployment routines will likely have to use the old UI to avoid splitting up coherent deployments to several smaller ones. Every time we deploy data pepeline with notebook activities from one workspace to another workspace.The connected workspace are not changing in data pipeline -> notebook "settings" -> "workspace name/id" to the connected workspace, but still on the old workspace.
