Hi Team, As a Fabric user working with Direct Lake semantic models (created via lakehouse SQL endpoints or OneLake), I've encountered significant challenges in backing up, copying, or migrating these models. The process is restricted and complicated compared to Import mode datasets: Backups require XMLA endpoints, Tabular Editor, or custom scripts (e.g., Semantic Link Labs), with limitations in free tiers or during live edits. Converting between Direct Lake modes (SQL vs. OneLake) involves manual TMDL edits in Power BI Desktop, risking errors. Recreating underlying lakehouse tables often leads to loss of complex measures (e.g., MTD, YTD, dynamic year-over-year comparisons), forcing full rebuilds, especially painful in production with 100+ reports. This results in high rework, time, and effort.   Proposed Improvements: Built-in "Export/Import" or "Clone" button for semantic models in the Fabric UI, supporting Direct Lake modes without XMLA setup. Auto-backup or "snapshot" feature before lakehouse changes, preserving measures/relationships even if tables are recreated (e.g., decouple measures from table IDs). Enhanced version history with unlimited versions, easy restores, and integration for measures only. Simplified migration wizard between Direct Lake on SQL and OneLake, with schema validation. This would greatly ease management for enterprise users, reducing downtime and errors. Feature Request: Two UI enhancements to improve readability and workspace in Power Query While working with medium to large datasets in Power Query, the available screen space becomes very limited, especially when dealing with many columns. I would like to propose two UI improvements that will give users more control and make data transformation easier and more comfortable.   1. Option to Move/Shift the Query Settings Pane to the Left Side (or Dock Anywhere) The Query Settings pane currently appears fixed on the right side. When working on smaller screens or with wide tables, the right-side pane occupies valuable horizontal space.   Suggested Enhancement: Allow users to dock the Query Settings pane on the left side, similar to how the Queries pane is docked. Even better, allow a drag-and-drop, customizable docking system (left, right, bottom, or floating window). This will help users who prefer to keep important panes together and free up more room for the data preview.   Benefits: More intuitive layout (Queries + Query Settings on the same side). Less horizontal scroll when working with wide datasets. Improved ergonomics and workflow efficiency. 2. Provide a “Maximize Data Preview” or “Full-Width Table View” Mode When working with many columns, the data preview area becomes too narrow.   Suggested Enhancement: Add an option such as “Maximize Data Preview”, which temporarily hides: Queries pane Query Settings pane Ribbon (optional toggle) Or provide a single-click “Expand Table View” button that gives more horizontal reading space.   Benefits: Cleaner, distraction-free data view. Easier to inspect, clean, and transform wide tables. Reduces excessive horizontal scrolling. As a distribution mechanism apps are great, but when the items they contain become large in number finding the right item(s) can be difficult. Being able to find the right item within an app is vitally important, and descriptions are an easy way to achieve this.   The implemention may be different between org apps and workspace apps. Currently, Power BI automatically localizes data units (e.g., Thousands, Millions) based on the UI language. When the UI is set to Chinese, units display as “千” and “百万”, even if the model culture is en-US. Request: Add an option to keep UI language as Chinese while displaying data units in English (K, M, B). Datasets aren't always textbook examples of information engineering. Many times, they are filled with duplicate keys, data and just plain garbage. As PBi developers we don't have the option of fixing the data and can only deal with it.   Both the Table and the Matrix visuals have an annoying feature of hiding data. For instance, while this table has thousands of instances of this Event, only one is shown, despite the option "Don't Summarize" being checked :     Add more details and more rows show up.     Nice feature. But in order to see all the instances, you sometimes have to add so many columns that the table becomes large and unreadable. Nobody like scrolling a table to the right to see all the data.   Likewise, the Matrix will also hide data, collapse, and remove duplicates.   This forces you to add a GUID, Row_ID, etc in the Transform step to provide a unique ID for each row, which then has to appear in the Row of the Matrix  setting, which then appears in the Matrix hierarchy, or in the Table,  which the user has no clue what it means.   We need a second set of Table and Matrix visuals that show the data as it is, or, provide a way to turn off automatic aggregating.     ...   Hi all, I’m trying to create dynamic column labels in Power BI based on a date selected by the user. Scenario: I have a dataset showing Stock on Hand (SOH) by date and product. In Power BI, I want to build a table where a slicer allows users to select a date. When a date is selected: The first column shows Current SOH for that date, and its label dynamically displays the selected date. The second column shows SOH for the previous day (selected date - 1), and its label updates accordingly. I can calculate the measures using DAX, but I haven’t found a way to make the column headers update dynamically based on the selected date. Example logic:     SOH_SelectedDate = CALCULATE( SUM(Data[SOH]), Data[Date] = SELECTEDVALUE(DateTable[Date]) ) SOH_PreviousDate = CALCULATE( SUM(Data[SOH]), Data[Date] = SELECTEDVALUE(DateTable[Date]) - 1 )   What I’ve tried: Using SELECTEDVALUE() and FORMAT() for card visuals (works fine for titles, not for table headers). Sometimes I use slicers to filter my reports and create my own filter area. However using the Power BI filters pane is more efficient when it comes to space for my visuals. Also there are other advantages with PBI filters pane, e.g. to use "clear all filters" option as botton action. There is one disadvantage with the filters pane. That is to organize my filter neatly. Especially for less advanced users, it should be more useful. Some made up examples below, but of course you should be able to remove and change or remove the visable frame of the table. So visually, the possibility to make it look like lining up your own slicers. Most important though is to be able to use sections like in a table and maybe create extra space so that you canidentify e.g. different sections. Not nexessary that the filters look like slicers. - Use a little more space (veritcally, for e.g date hiearchy Created Date: year                year- month                                           date Health condition: maybe is important so you want to use more space Adminstrative visits:        YES        NO large buttons for attention! -Maybe you have small filters like yes and no or dropdown that use little space. I have previously worked in SAS Analytics. I used containers for my visuals. In Power BI I had to create individual visuals, use hide and show visuals and create buttons. For each view I had to create a new bookmark. My resport is quite small so it works ok. It is still a pain to make sure I update each bookmark correctly every time I want to change the report. It is therefore difficult to maintain. So I have attached a link to video. 7 minutes after start, they show "TYPES OF CONATINER". The one I would like to have is the stacking container (with tabs) with several visual options. Users should have the ability to create subscriptions for apps, just like we can for reports within Power BI service.    I don't want all the recipients of a subscription to have access to the workspace, but would like them to receive automated updates via an email subscription. They shouldn't have access to all of the data on the report and that is why they are given certain access permissions within an app. A subscription to the app would allow us to send the automated email with a link to "open report in app" or something of that nature, so they can interact with any visuals as necessary within a protected environment. ... I had difficulties to create matrix table which is the total in row (bottom) should be in Average values, but  the total in column (right side) should be in SUM.  I had tried searching the solution in few websites, most of the solution in DAX with long and complicated formula which i could not understand. The is a way in values dropdown to change either SUM or Average values, but it will change to row and column totals as well.. I just thinking, if the matrix table could custom the dropdown individually so that we can select the values in Average for total row and could select the value in SUM for total column or vice versa. In the workspace list flyout, and the new horizontal tabs, I have noticed that the workspace images disappear sometimes, and fall back to the default (generic) workspace icons - as if we hadn't uploaded any workspace image.   Later, the images re-appear.
