Kindly, we need to make a change in the visualization as my manager often prefers to use charts in the same way as slicers. Specifically, he would like to select a data point in a visual, such as a clustered bar chart, and have that selection affect slicers as well as visuals on other report pages. Please can we get the ability to create calculated columns in a Semantic model, that is created in a Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse. Currently you can only create a calculated measure only, this is such a limitation. When a table isn't available, PowerBI desktop (or whatever interface) should popup and say that the table isn't available and ask if you want to remove it.   I'm using PowerBI desktop to edit a semantic model and when I clicked refresh one of the tables wasn't available in the lakehouse the model was pulling from. The model quietly just dropped the table and all the relationships.    Now I have to go back in and add the tables and rebuild the relationships and hope I restored everything just like it was. ... I'm having an issue migrating my old Power Pivot One Windows models to the Windows Fabric semantic model.    My original Power pivot connected directly to the One windows server and I was able to create the query easily using the "Table Import Wizard" to pull in all the fields and set up the filters with out having to write DAX statements (which I know very little of).   I tried to the same with the Fabric server and re-create my query in Power Pivot, but I'm getting a user authentication error. My understanding is that Power Pivot is not compatible with the way fabric authenticates and therefore the connection cannot be stablished.   I tried a work around creating a table using the "Import Table" function in the Windows fabric selection which actually works well for me as it has an interface which helps me set the query very easily and creates a table that's connected to the server and which I can import into my Power Pivot model. But then I have another issue with this one too, as once the table is created there is no way to go back to the query set up screen to modify the original filters and or fields .   Is there a way in which I can go back to the table/query set up screen and modify the setting of the query thru there?   thanks!       Fabric Table creator     Power Pivot connection error   ... When exporting data from a table, columns of type date/time export as a value as expected but Excel does not display the value by default. A simple format cells can fix the issue but I believe the "General" format does not pick up the date/time correctly to format and display it. Power BI could include the format when exporting excel files so Excel would know how to display each column to match the Power BI display of the table.  ... View more

When querying notebook runs via https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/fabric/core/job-scheduler/get-item-job-instance?tabs=HTTP) it always returns the failure message "Job instance failed without detail error" for failed notebook runs without further details.   When I triggered a notebook run via https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/fabric/core/job-scheduler/run-on-demand-item-job?tabs=HTTP and checked the status of this notebook run near real-time, I noticed that shortly after the failure the exception was included in the response, but it disappears after 5 to 10 seconds (see below screenshot).   Always returning the exception details for a failed notebook run, would help understanding why the notebook run failed without the need to jump into the notebook run history and check in the item snapshots what happened.   @felicitynyanfyi ... Please add a Find and Replace feature in the Advanced Editor within Power Query. This feature is badly needed for users working with large, complex M code scripts. When editing long queries with many steps, it's currently impossible to search for variable names, column names, or specific expressions within the editor itself. There is also no way to do a basic "Replace All" operation, which forces users to copy the code into an external editor like Notepad++ or VS Code, then paste it back in. Adding even a basic Ctrl+F / Ctrl+H interface (like in DAX editor or Visual Studio Code) would greatly improve productivity and reduce human error during manual code edits. ... View more

We have realized on my team that the current ability for non service principal users to automate notebook runs through pipelines is not sustainable. There will be random failures due to authentication that happen after password changes are happen as a part of the normal semi-monthly cadence as required by most IT departments.   And when I say these failures are random I mean truly random. I have had 5 or so contributors making and automating notebooks with pipelines and only one of them has had this issue. But it happened on multiple pipelines and all on the same day about 4 days after he changed his password.   It can be resolved by making and saving any arbitrary update to the pipeline, but having these failures randomly start is a huge issue. Retries on the notebooks are ineffective.    I have already spoken with support and they have no obligation to raise this issue that is clearly a bug any higher because it is possible to solve the problem whenever it comes up just by re-saving the pipeline. But it is a huge issue that this comes up at all.   If this goes unresolved, all Fabric users should effectively expect that all of our pipelines may randomly start failing for no reason and that we need to babysit them all.    A more specific example of one of these errors is Failed to get User Auth access token. I have a report that needs to default to showing detail groups.  The +/- toggle is set to be the opposite of what users are expecting.  According to Grok, currently Power BI assumes the group starts hidden and displays the toggle with a + sign, the standard sign for drilling down.  There is no way to change this.  Also according to Grok, if the report is exported to Excel, Excel treats the +/- symbols correctly regardless of whether you defaulted showing the detail or not. ...
