Just like the M365 Copilot SDK, it would be great if Microsoft could release a Power BI Copilot SDK so developers can fully customize and extend Copilot experiences inside Power BI. Right now, Copilot is a great low-code solution — but imagine if we could bring pro-code flexibility to it. With an SDK, customers could plug in their own models, reasoning layers, and business context to create truly tailored AI experiences that go far beyond what’s possible today. We recently built an agent from scratch using Azure Foundry Agent Service, layering Azure AI Search on top of the Power BI semantic model and report metadata. It performs dramatically better than the native Power BI Copilot or Fabric Data Agent options. A Power BI Copilot SDK could completely change the game — enabling developers to build unified, intelligent, business-aware agents directly inside Power BI instead of stitching together separate solutions.
