I have been using the Strippet Browser to show a number of news articles in a current report. The data has loaded into the desktop application fine (I can see my latest articles by date under "Data"), but in the Report view, it won't refresh by the latest date. In my workspace in the Power BI app for Windows 10 on PC, the names of the reports are not showing up, and neither is the report icon (the little bar chart icon), although you can still open the reports. This bug is happening on multiple accounts in their own personal workspaces. I discovered that this only seems to happen when the workspace you are looking at has no dashboards, and if you add a dashboard, the names for the reports and dashboards will appear. I believe that the issue has something to do with the "Learn how to add new dashboards" option that appears if you have no dashboards. When the names are not visible, the button you press to go to the report is shorter, the same size as the "Learn how to add new dashboards" button, which makes me believe the issue is somehow related to this option. I tested adding in a blank dashboard, and this fixed the issue, but it returned again when I removed the dashboard. Hi all, I'm getting the ole chestnut 'couldn't load the data for this visual' in the following circumstance: I have published a Power BI Desktop File to the Power BI service with a connection to two datasources (SalesForce and Excel - via a SharePoint Folder). The report publishes successfully and after supplying the credentials in the service it connects and refreshes successfully. If I then share this either via a shared dashboard or content pack it throws the 'couldn't load the data for this visual' error for those I've shared it with. This seems to relate to the two data sources within the dataset as there is no issue if sharing only the SalesForce data or Excel data on it's own. I also found if I 'make a copy' of the dashboard when imported via a content pack this will then render successfully in the copied version. The original version then displays correctly as well - but only well the connection is active (i.e. I've loaded the copy first). Any insight or additional thoughts are appreciated. Cheers, Cody ... Summary: I have a error field that is a JSON (Nested). I use Transform->Parse->JSON to parse the column with the JSON. Hi I'm experiencing unusual behaviour when connecting Power BI Desktop to an on prem Tabular model (2014). Our model has 1000 calculations, any time a user connects to teh Tabular Model, the connection takes 30-40 seconds to complete (time it takes to see the meta data). This happens with every new connection. The server which hosts the tabular model shows the CPU spiking up to 30% per connection therefore 3-5 concurrent connections max out the server. Running profiler trace on the server, i can see that for each connection, a bunch (number of calculations in the model) MDX execute statements are being fired for each calculation in the model which is the reason behind the delay. even though each MDX statement only only milliseconds to run, the number that can execute at any one time is throttled and the sheer number add up, taking on avg 30 seconds to complete. This behaviour doesn't occur when i connect to the tabular model using Excel, where the connection is almost instant and there are no MDX execute statements in the background. In the Power BI service this works slightly differently in that the number of connections is controlled by Power BI/enterprise gateway/Azure Service Bus rather than per user, would it be possible to share more information on how the powerbi.com service manages connections against the on prem server? thanks Rahil ...
