freeze column in a table chart

It'd be great to be able to freeze a left hand column in a table so users can scroll and keep track of what row they're looking at

Essential (and simple) feature needed. The matrix work around loses too much other functionality to be used all the time

Please, we have asked for this for a long time and is so basic and useful. You already have much of the work done in the matrix, just move it to the table visual.

Thank you.

Very good idea, I was recently asked to implement this in a report recently but found out that I couldn't, this would be especially useful when freezing the id columns as you could reference back to the id being looked at, or for a certain value and you want to check its id, At my work I am always creating wide tables that have over 50 columns so great idea.

How can this still not be available?

Hey Microsoft,

you have the feature in Excel. (Just first column but hey better then nothing)

How could it be, that after 8 Years this feature isn't implemented in Power Bi?

Any reaction would be very nice for all the people searching for this.

I have achieved the freezing of first few columns using Matrix visual instead of table visual and managed to represent the data like table visual only using stepped layout for row_headers property in formatting. But recently I received the request on top of it to sort the first few columns like we do the sorting by clicking on column header in any other regular table visual. When I had tried to to do the same then i end up facing another issue that only my first column was sorting after clicking on column header and remaining columns were not at all sorting post clicking on the column headers. I guess this is happening due to row level hierarchy which gets created in the background even though we are showing the row level details onto the columns.

@Microsoft : Please provide the required feature to be able to freeze few textual data columns using simple table visual instead of using matrix visual and painful process of workaround to achieve the table like representation.

I wonder how many votes an idea needs before it goes under review. If you search Fabric Ideas for "freeze", you'll find many others asking for this. While I understand Power BI is not Excel and has many benefits over Excel, the lack of being able to freeze panes (e.g., freeze the 2 left columns) is perhaps the only item I find myself embarrassed about when I have to tell stakeholders I can't implement this simple request ...and do you know what behavior a lack of freeze panes encourages in end users? Exporting to Excel, the very thing we are trying to coach out of them 😪
