Why can't I load an Access database?

We should be able to load an Access database.

Thanks for the feedback. You can currently import data from an Access Database using the Power BI Designer, or Excel (via Power Query). After building the report with these tools, you can publish it to the Power BI Service. Did you try this approach? Did you find any issues with it?

When trying to get the Access database connection as an external data source it's complaining about 32 and 64 bit size incompatibility. That's just plain frustrating.
