Unable to use multiple date slicers on a report

I attempted to use the date slicer that was released for October 2016, but I am unable to use multiple date slicers on a report. I have my report set up so that the right and left sides of the report compare two different timeframes. When I try to set up the interactions so that the right slicer controls the right side and the left slicer controls the left side, the interactions update for both slicers. There does not appear to be a way to set up separate interactions for each slicer.
