True Excel‑Style In‑Place Write‑Back & Multi‑Row Editing (Still Missing)
What users want
- Edit values directly in tables/matrix visuals
- Multi-row & bulk edits
- Grid-style planning / forecasting / budgeting
- No-code or low-code setup
Current reality
- Power BI is still primarily read-only
- Native write-back via Translytical Task Flows + User Data Functions exists, but:
- One-row-at-a-time
- No in-cell editing
- Requires Fabric capacity + coding
- Not business-user friendly
- Most orgs still rely on Power Apps, Power Automate, or 3rd‑party visuals
Why demand is high
- Excel is still used for planning & forecasting
- Finance, Sales Ops, Supply Chain teams expect bi‑directional BI
- Tableau, Qlik, and custom apps handle this better out of the box
