Trigger refreshes for datasets using API

Instead of refreshing a dataset based on a schedule, I would like to trigger running a refresh on demand. A REST API that I could use to get the history of refreshes, current status of refresh, and start a refresh would be helpful.

This seems an absolute need in order to coordinate with ETL processes against the datasource. Unless they want to at least add SSIS tasks for Power BI

I agree for the same reason as Anonymouw

This Post seems to be the same (https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/268152-developer-apis/suggestions/7851153-auto-refresh-trigger-data-refresh) and the Votes should be aggregated together. I think this is very important.

In corporate environnent triggering data refresh based on a corporate scheduler would be a must-do. And even more for powerbi used onprem in SSRS

This feature is a must, as it is important in few of the cases to sequentialize your ETL runs and the power bi dataset refreshment

Advocate I
Would be an excellent feature addition, we end up updating much later than we could because of the inability to link our ETL to the refresh.

This feature will be a great addition and will help generating real-time reports on data. scheduled refresh (8 times a day) does not give an insight of Data through out the day in real time. Will be a lot more helpful if refreshes can be made via API calls

This would help immensely as we can then trigger a dashboard refresh once all the SQL Server Agent jobs have finished running.

Is there another item like this that is getting MS attention. To me this is a huge miss from enterprise perspective.
