To the Power BI Development Team,

I’ve spent over 10 hours trying to build what should be a simple, dynamic, slicer-responsive distance matrix in Power BI. I followed every workaround, every trick, every workaround to the workaround. And after hours of effort, I’m left with nothing but frustration and wasted time.

Why is it so hard to do something as basic as dynamically cross-join two tables and have the result respond to slicers? Why can’t visuals accept disconnected fields when the logic is handled in a measure? Why are calculated tables static and unresponsive to user interaction? Why does Power BI choke on resource usage when trying to do what Excel or SQL can handle with ease?

I’m not asking for magic. I’m asking for intuitive, responsive, user-friendly behavior — the kind of thing that should be native to a tool built for data storytelling and interactivity. Instead, I’ve been forced into a maze of limitations, half-solutions, and broken promises.

This experience has made me question whether Power BI is truly built for creators who want more than dashboards. If you want to empower users, then empower them. Don’t bury functionality behind technical walls and performance ceilings.

I’m done for now. But if you care about the future of this platform, listen to the people who try to build with it — and make it better.
